Postdoc position_Long Lab at Weill Cornell

2022年07月07日

The Long lab (www.longlab.org) at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University is actively recruiting a Postdoctoral researcher. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative candidate that can fit in our energic, interactive and fun lab environment. Experience and training in one or more of the following areas is recommended: omics, RNA biology, epigenetics, CRISPR, bioinformatics or other related fields.

The Long lab tackles fundamental biological questions at the intersection of RNA, DNA and protein, with a special interest in how RNA regulates chromatin. This includes understanding the specificity of epigenetic repression in stem cell differentiation, high throughput functional determination of noncoding RNA in cell fate determination, and novel CRISPR tool development to study RNA and chromatin.

The Long lab was established in the Department of Biochemistry and Cardiovascular Research Institute of Weill Cornell in August 2021. The lab is well-funded by generous startup fund, an NIH K99/R00 pathway to independence award, and an American Heart Association Career Development Award. The Tri-Institution (Weill Cornell, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Rockefeller University), where the lab is located, provides an unparalleled combination of world-class faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and collaborative research opportunities to the next generation of scientific leaders.

Applicants are expected to hold a Ph.D. at the start date (negotiable) of the postdoc position. The ideal candidate will have experience in a wide range of molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, molecular cloning, CRISPR techniques, and next-generation sequencing. Computational skills to analyze omics datasets will be advantageous. We are also looking for a computational biologist separately that is experienced in computational analyses of omics data (e.g., RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, etc.). The candidates are expected to have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Weill Cornell offers competitive benefits to postdoc associates. We maintain a number of apartments for full-time postdoctoral associates and their families. Renting an apartment outside of Weill Cornell housing can also be a good option. We also offer other excellent benefits including on-campus childcare centers and health insurance. Salary will be commensurate with experience and will adhere to NIH and Cornell institutional guidelines.
