The president of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) asks the president of the RNA Society of Japan to nominate excellent young researchers for the 14th (FY2017) JSPS PRIZE. The RNA Society of Japan calls for Regular Members who will be nominated by the President.

The International Prize for Biology Call for Nominations was opened.
When you will submit your nomination, please use the downloaded nomination form in the website and attach a brief statement of the nominee’s achievements.
The 40th Molecular Biology Society of Japan (MBSJ) and the 90th Japanese Biochemical Society (JBS) will be held as a combined meeting, the Japanese Consortium of Biological Sciences (ConBio 2017 in Kobe) from December 6th to 9th, 2017. More than 30 other Japanese Societies across the broad field of Biological Sciences are participating in this Conference.
RNAJ will co-sponsor ConBio2017 and organize a symposium.

A membership fee for Regular members will be down to 6500 JPY from 2017 in accordance to a resolution in the general meeting of 2016. It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you Dr. Kimitsuna Watanabe, the professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo passed away on October 16th. He was one of the most prolific tRNA specialists, and he served as a president of The RNA Society of Japan for the Term 3. We would like to express our sincere condolences.
The 2017 joint annual meeting of the Molecular Biology Society of Japan (MBSJ) and the Japanese Biochemical Society (JBS) will be held at Kobe from December 6th to 9th, 2017. Biological societies other than MBSJ and JBS are invited to co-sponsor this meeting, aiming to stimulate discussion from wider range of research fields. Therefore, the RNA Society of Japan (RNAJ) has agreed to participate as one of the co-sponsors of the meeting.
In this meeting, each co-sponsoring society will hold a symposium or a workshop. Therefore, we are calling for symposium proposal, which will be suitable to represent RNAJ, from regular and honorary members of the society. For those of you who are interested in putting forward a symposium proposal, please send us application form in the format described below. Please note that this symposium will be held as a different slot from general workshops. Once the proposal is accepted, details will be discussed together with the council officers of RNAJ. We are looking forward to your application.
The RNA society announced that Dr. Haruhiko Shiomi, a member of The RNA Society of Japan, was chosen by the 2016 election as a Board Member for 2017-2018.

The member-only fees of the RNA2016 in Kyoto is applicable to active members of the RNA Society of Japan.
For the on-site registration with the member-only fees, you will be asked to show the “Membership Status" in "My Account" (login required) on your smartphone or printed matter at the registration counter.
If you have not paid the annual membership fee of this fiscal year, please login and complete the payment. By the bank transfer, it will take about a week until the payment is confirmed and your membership status becomes activated.
If your status has not been activated at the registration, you will be asked to register with the non-member fees. After approval of the activation of your membership status, the RNA2016 secretariat will refund the balance (deadline is July 10th). Please ask details at the on-site registration counter.
Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) asks the President of the RNA Society of Japan to nominate excellent researchers for the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Full and Honorary Members are encouraged to apply for the nominee.

The Officers of the RNA Society of Japan are pleased to announce that the 18th General Meeting will be held on the second day of the RNA Meeting 2016 in Kyoto. Members of the Society are encouraged to attend the Meeting.
Members who are not attending the General Meeting shall send a Letter of Proxy Form online. The deadline of sending the letter is Sunday, June 19, 2016. Only the members who have paid the annual membership fees for FY2016 can send the Letter of Proxy.
